Back to technical leadership, once again.

Bootstrapping a dedicated CI/CD platform team focused on making the path from code to production fast and reliable while providing the best developer experience possible. This is a technical leadership role in which I still get to write code and contribute to the platform.

AI is enabling the production of software with increased velocity and by non-traditional developers as well. This team is charged with ensuring appropriate safeguards and standards are upheld without unnecessary friction. This is an exciting new role at NISC.

Software Architect | February 2024 - September 2026

A return to an engineering role.

I work with and advise multiple groups to assist in the design and implementation of systems supporting our co-op members. This includes participation in architectural reviews and platform enablement.

Some of the larger projects include:

• actively designing and building an application for evaluating and scoring service quality and adherence to best practices
• created an internal developer platform (IDP) using Backstage, writing multiple custom integrations
• maintaining the strategic vision for Developer Experience (DevX aka DX) related to our Backstage implementation
• wrote an internal synthetic monitoring application in Go
• modernizing SpringBoot applications to latest specifications

Teaching and presenting:

I did present to a crowd of over 200 developers about the release of our internal developer platform using Backstage. This talk was so well-received, I decided to recreate it as a tool for onboarding new developers!
